April, 2011 -- What's New V1.2

All objects have an 800 metre clip distance, it is still up to you to decide rigid or non rigid body.

Gate assemblies have been simplified and improved.

Only one heavy post is now included with 3 strainers. Used as is for a junction, or parts deleted to make a mid Strainer, end Strainer post or even a gate post. All parts have a centre axis or pivot.

Existing panels renamed *PanelAU for Australian fencing. These have square wood posts and metal star pickets.

New NZ Panels included - these have smaller wooden round and square posts.

Jan 2011 -- What's New V1.1

All pivot points are now either at the end of the panel or at the logical centre for easier placement and editing.

Object count simplified, now only two gates are included, both are now posable.

The posts have been made with an extra 500mm or 20 inches on the bottom to allow for uneven ground as all the parts are separate, rotation and scaling can be used.

Updated instructions:

Always use the longest panel you can, taking in to regard the lay of the land, as the larger the panel the less the polys.

Make a new transfrom group, rename it ie, South 40

Move the transform group to the middle of the field - doesn't have to be exact, close enough is good.

Move imported objects to the transform group before editing them.

Start in a corner with a 40m panel rotate the Y axis as necessary to get the square post furthest away from you.

Click on the plus sign to expand the group, select the wires and scale them as long as your straightest run or to the end of the field - it could be the x or z axis depending if you rotated the panel.

Use this to align the wires parallel to the field edge. This will give you the correct angle of the Y axis.

Duplicate this panel and rotate the Y axis to align this panel to the other field edge, might be 90 degrees, might not...

If the wires run reasonably parallel to the ground, then rescale them back to 4 (for a 40m panel) and continue adding panels as necessary by duplication - CTRL D - and moving either by dragging the transform group or by entering numbers in the Attributes panel

Add a corner post, rotating and editing as necessary to suit the corner.

If the ground rises or falls before the end of the 40m panel, then make a note of the co-ordinates and import a smaller panel placing to the same co-ords, delete the 40m panel and adjust the smaller panel to the lay of the land.

Depending on your run of fence a mid strainer post can be added if you wish every 100m - 120m or so

Import and edit the triPost should you wish an opening in a fence but no gates, or should your fence end in the middle of a swamp or creek... or the end of the map...

Adjusting for rise and fall:

Click on the plus sign to expand the panel group, click on the wires, click on the blue line on the wires gizmo and rotate the wires until they are parallel to the ground, don't adjust the height.

Then select each square post and star picket individually and adjust the height to suit keeping them vertical.

If the ground is still rising or falling, duplicate the panel, move and adjust as necessary.

As soon as you can use the 40m panels to reduce the total poly count.

And remember to move any imported objects to the transform group before editing.

If you need a smaller panel, then scale the wire length to suit and delete star pickets and posts etc as necessary.

Gates:

The 6 metre/meter Single Gate has the gate posts at 6m centres.

The Double Gates have the gate posts at 12m centres.

The Double Gates have an overall center pivot.
